GUNSTON SWIMMING POOL

RULES & REGULATIONS 2024

 

The following rules have been established for the benefit and protection of all members and guests. They are established by the Terrace Towne Homes of Gunston and Highlands of Gunston Amenity Committee, and approved by the Board of Directors for the Council of Co-Owners of the Terrace Towne Homes of Gunston Condominium, to ensure the proper operation of the facility and to provide a safe and comfortable recreation space for the members and their guests. Any non-compliance with the rules may result in the suspension of pool privileges. The pool lifeguard (who will also notify the Association’s Management Agent) will handle situations arising that are not specifically covered by the established rules.

General Rules:

  • Any unit with revoked common area privileges at Terrace Towne Homes and/or Highlands is NOT eligible to access the pool.
  • Owners will have the right to keep the pool access to themselves or they can pass to their tenants. Each unit will be allowed only owner or tenant access but not both.
  • Owners are responsible for registering their tenants.
  • Maximum 5 people from each unit are eligible for pool membership.
  • For tenant occupied units copy of the current lease must be on file. All the tenants must be registered with the Associations.
  • All eligible parties will be responsible for self-enrolling in MemberSplash, pool membership platform. All the documents and information need to be provided in order for the pool application to be approved. Incomplete applications will be denied.
  • Photo- all the residents are required to upload a DMV style photo, which clearly shows their face. Photos will be used for check in purposes.
  • Due to high volume of members and lengthy verification process please allow 7-14 days for application to be reviewed and approved or denied.

Pool Admission Policies

  • All members and guests must enter through the pool house and bathrooms, and check in with lifeguard before entering the pool area. Every person must have active MemberSplash pool membership to be granted access. No exceptions will be made.
  • All guest must be accompanied by the Resident 16 years or older
  • Pool users must abide by all posted rules and lifeguard directives. Failure to do so can result in immediate ejection from the facility.
  • Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult, 18 years of age or older, to enter the pool area. Children under the age of 10, must have an adult, 18 years or older in the pool with them at all times.
  • One adult can only accompany a maximum of three children, 6 years of age and younger. The ratio for this age group is 1 adult for every 3 children (1:3).
  • Parents with children ages 6 to 12 cannot be responsible for a group larger than 6. The ratio for this age group is 1 adult for every 6 children (1:6).
  • The actions and conduct of guests are responsibility of the resident. Misconduct of individuals may result in the dismissal of the group.
  • Swim attire is required both on the pool deck and in the pool area.
  • No pets are allowed on pool premises in the pool house or pool.
  • County code states that any person with open wounds, rashes, nasal discharge, inflamed eyes or bandages are not allowed in the pool.
  • Persons who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted in the pool or in the surrounding area.
  • Persons on medication must have authorization from their physicians to swim.
  • Infants/children not toilet trained, and incontinent adults must wear swimsuit diapers. Diapers (cloth and disposable) are prohibited. Parents will be held accountable for the cost of closing the pool and cleaning up accidents if one occurs.
  • Playing of radios or other musical/sound equipment is not permitted. Headsets/ear buds are required if music is to be played.
  • Food and drink consumption is prohibited inside the pool.
  • Glass containers are prohibited on the premises.
  • No wheeled vehicles (except wheelchairs) are allowed in the pool area.
  • No weapons.
  • No smoking, alcohol, or banned substances are allowed inside pool house and fenced pool area.

 

Guests:

  • Guest passes can be purchased ONLY on the website.
  • Guest passes are not sold at the check in desk.
  • Guests must be accompanied by resident 16 years or older at all times.
  • Maximum of 4 guests passes are allowed to be used per each unit, each day.
  • Guest pass daily fee is $5.
  • Purchased guest passes are nonrefundable.
  • Resident needs to stay in the pool area with their guests at all times.

 

Pool Rules

  • No swimming when the pool is closed
  • No swimming when a lifeguard is not on duty
  • At the discretion of the lifeguard, anyone wishing to swim in the deep end may be required to demonstrate their swimming abilities by taking a swim test.
  • The lifeguard will call a swim break each hour. Each break may not exceed (15) fifteen minutes. When the guard calls/whistles for break, patrons must leave the water.
  • NO EATING OR DRINKING, except in area(s) designated for this purpose. County code requires that any eating or drinking take place at least 10 feet from the pool’s edge and in an area separated from the pool by a fence or suitable barrier.
  • NO GLASS CONTAINERS of any kind in pool house and in and around the pool.
  • No running on the deck
  • No diving in any depth under 5 ½ feet
  • No toys, floating devices, snorkels, or masks allowed in the pool
  • No dunking, splashing, or horseplay inside the pool, no running, pushing, acrobatics, wrestling, fighting, inappropriate language or causing excess disturbances.
  • No gum, spitting, spouting, nose blowing, or urinating in the pool
  • Socializing with or distracting the lifeguard on duty is prohibited
  • Only appropriate swim attire is allowed in the pool
  • The lifeguard on duty will determine the use of kickboards, inflatable equipment (such as beach balls), etc.

 

Locker Room Rules

  • Protect your valuables—Terrace Towne Homes is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
  • You must soap and shower your entire body before entering the pool.
  • No loitering in the locker room or showers.
  • No videotaping or photography is allowed in locker rooms or showers.
  • Consumption of food and glass containers is prohibited in the locker room.
  • Appropriate swim attire is required in the pool area.
  • Leaving one or more children, 6 years old or under, who reasonably appear to be unsupervised or unattended anywhere in or on the pool premises is prohibited.
  • Improperly using pool restrooms, including shaving and exceedingly more than one person in a restroom stall (unless accompanying children or adults in need of assistance) is prohibited.

 

Guests will be dismissed from the facility for the following reasons:

  • Improper conduct
  • Causing injury to others
  • Intoxication
  • Improper swimwear
  • Abusive Language
  • Cursing
  • Failing to obey all rules
  • The lifeguard has the authority to suspend the pool privileges of any individual participating in any of the above for up to 24 hours.

 

Pool Closures

The pool may be closed and pool and deck area cleared under the following conditions:

  • Contamination of the pool
  • Temperature below 65 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Lightening or thunderstorms
  • Hail showers or heavy rain that prevent observation of the bottom of the pool
  • Any other climate conditions that may endanger pool users and/or staff
  • The pool may reopen 30 minutes following the cessation of a thunderstorm or shower

Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing the pool rules. All members and guests are required to abide by the rules. Members are ultimately responsible for the conduct of their children and their guests at the pool.

Parents are responsible for making sure their children understand the rules and obey the instructions of the lifeguard
